When seconds count, Hatzalah is there for you.

As an independent, non-profit volunteer organization, The Alvin S. Mintzes Hatzalah of Baltimore is dedicated to providing quick, professional and expert emergency care to the Northwest Baltimore community. Established in 2007, our response team has since grown to a team of 58 volunteers, including 38 emergency medical responders (EMTs and Paramedics), 20 dispatchers, along with 5 state-of-the-art transport units, including 2 new ambulances added in August, 2019 enabling us to arrive on-scene in less than 3 minutes at a time when seconds can mean the difference between life and death.

There is no doubt that Hatzalah plays an essential role in our community, responding to over 4oo calls in our first year of operation. Today Hatzalah responds to over 1500 hundred calls per year and the need is growing.

Hatzalah coverage area includes from Slade Avenue to Northern Parkway and Reisterstown Road to Pimlico Road. All our responders are licensed or certified by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).

Over the last decade, we have responded to more than 10,000 calls for medical assistance, including cardiac, obstetric, diabetic, traumatic, or neurological emergencies, saving thousands of lives with our prompt response and expert care. We are here for the community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are always available to answer your call.

Hatzalah of Baltimore responded to more than 400 calls in its first year of operation. Since then, our reach and our efficiency have expanded exponentially: In 2018, we responded to 1,500 calls and we anticipate continued growth along with the community’s expanding needs.

Annual Budget

Baltimore depends on Hatzalah & Hatzalah depends on Baltimore.

In order to continue operating at maximum efficiency, Hatzalah must meet its annual budget of $500,000. With each call costing approximately $300, we depend on the community’s support to continue our crucial work.

As our Baltimore community continues to grow, the need for Hatzalah grows as well. We are excited to share our plans to help us meet the community’s expanding needs. This includes building an additional garage which will be dedicated to the memory of M-58 Lonnie Borck, z”l, updating our radio system, and constantly upgrading our medical equipment to meet the latest standards.

Do your part in keeping this vital organization alive by showing your support. Your donation will save lives.

We are your community.

Hatzalah responders are your neighbors, your friends, your family members and part of your community, providing comfort to families at some of their worst moments. The job of a Hatzalah volunteer doesn't stop at the end of the call response. Hatzalah's goal is to provide all aspects of emergency medical service. Our responders can also be relied upon to coordinate patient care with area hospitals and doctors, serve as patient advocates, and offer family support in times of need.
